About

Hi everyone! My name is Mikayla, and I’m an 19-year-old girl who lives in central Indiana. I work at a library, so I get easy access to some of the coolest new books. I also contribute to the teen blog for said library, which can be found at http://www.khcplteenscene.blogspot.com. Reading is one of my favorite things to do, and I love finding new books that aren’t totally gross and only about vampires or werewolves or demons like so many books are today. I love talking about the books I read, so I decided that maybe a blog would help me stop bothering my mom by telling her the entire plot and storyline of books she doesn’t care about! I hope it helps even one person who’s looking for some unique, clean reading material, and if I accomplish that, it’s totally worth it!

I don’t want to bore anyone with details about all my favorite things, but I love sci-fi, love the Starbound series as well as the Lunar Chronicles (fan since Cinder, whaaat!), and yet I’ll read across almost any genre. However, my favorite quote comes from The Wrath and the Dawn, by Renee Ahdieh, a retelling of A Thousand and One Nights. Here it is (my whole purpose in editing my ABOUT page is so this is somewhere on my blog, because I love it).

“Do you think you are invincible? That you live off nothing but fresh dew and cold fury?”

There are a thousand and one amazing quotes from that book, but that one stops my heart every time. I love it. And now you have a glimpse into my head, where that quote swirls around every few days when I think of a book. Stay tuned for more random facts about me, and follow my blog to keep up with my reviews/ramblings/waitings!

What about few old books? Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque, The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway ? πŸ™‚

Awesome idea! I have read Les Miserables and loved it, but it’s been a while, so I’ll have to refresh my memory- and I’ll check out some other old books soon! πŸ˜€

Absolutely! There are certain books I won’t read because of content I personally find objectionable but I’m open to suggestions!

Sorry it took so long to get back, been quite busy!

Would you review The Water Travelers? It’s YA/fantasy/romance! I put the bio below (I also wrote it, so if you have any questions content wise I can be straight forward with you right up front πŸ™‚ )

BIO: Adventure finds those who are brave enough to take the first step.

Aaron never wanted to pursue kingship, but his care for the lives of his people forced him toward it. When his father, The King of Upitar, sends him on a quest to find a girl who was prophesied long ago to destroy their world, Aaron finds himself fighting the option of running away forever or fulfilling his destiny as the Heir of Upitar.

By water traveling, a gift his people have that allows them to go back and forth between their world and Earth through water, Aaron starts this adventure with thousands of thoughts and questions racing around his head.

While on his journey, he inadvertently meets the very girl he’s sent to kill, Madalyne Harper. Without knowing it’s her, an unlikely romance between the sarcastic and daring Madalyne Harper begins to flourish with the rebellious and curious, Prince Aaron Archien. As they grow closer, Aaron begins to learn of secrets within the Harper family regarding water travelers. Wanting to learn more, and wanting an excuse to hang out with Madi, Aaron continues to delay his original mission. As family problems and outside forces press down on them, Aaron and Madi soon find themselves running away together.

Everything between them is great until Aaron learns the girl he has connected so well with is the same girl he’s going to have to kill…

Sounds very intriguing! I don’t usually buy the books that I review (I work at a library, so free access, you know haha?) but when I have a few extra dollars I’ll grab it. Thanks for the recommendation and congratulations on writing a book!
